Quartz crystal, or rock crystal as it is also known, is beautiful. I grew up in a place (Hot Springs, Arkansas) where you could find rock crystals in the backyard. Most of the time, the ones that were easily found were a whitish colour with bits of clear crystal glittering throughout. The best quartz or rock crystal is absolutely clear and flawless (very beautiful - and you cannot believe how large these crystals can be). Of course, the quartz that you see here didn't come from my backyard (and I no longer live in Hot Springs) and has been beautifully faceted and shaped - from the quartz points to the large nuggets. Quartz is also sometimes heat treated to make it different colours and it is occasionally dyed though the heat-treated quartz has a prettier and truer colour. I love quartz crystals - and the larger and chunkier, the better!
